Byredo
Fragrances are liquid emotions for me. It brings meaning to the mood and a temple to the thoughts.
As an iconoclastic brand conceived in 2006, Byredo continues to redefine what a luxury brand could be.
The store looks minimal, displaying a curated array of the exquisite fragrances.
The gentleman who was helping me was more of a storyteller than an associate trying to sell a perfume.
My top favorites, which is indeed very subjective, were the
1. Bal D’Afrique, for its base of Moroccan cedarwood, vetiver blooming onto the top with African marigold and Bergamot.
2. Mixed Emotions, for its base of Birch woods and papyrus with a heart of Ceylon Black Tea right in the middle.
3. Animalique, a 6 month old fragrance, for its top notes of bergamot and lemon, a central framework of mimosa that plunges deep into the feral universe of amber, tobacco and suede.
Quite surprisingly there is another fragrance that had me occupied. The Rose of No Man’s Land. Stunning top of Turkish rose petals, pink pepper with a heart of Raspberry blossom and diving into Amber and papyrus. The ladies would absolutely love this one as much as I did.
